Houghton Hall Revisited

Between 17th May and 29th September Houghton Hall will be hosting a spectacular display of Old Master paintings from the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, which were sold from the house in 1779 to Catherine the Great.

They will be hung in their original positions in the State Rooms, recreating how the house would have looked in Sir Robert Walpole’s time.  Over 70 paintings from the collection, including works by Van Dyck, Velazquez, Poussin, and Rembrandt.
